The Members of the Writing Adventure Club, Summer 1999 (contributing authors of Where Love is needed):
A girls writing club wrote this book. In the summer of 1999, they came twice a week to author Kathleen Paul's living room. Three of these girls were in the first writing club. This year they knew more about the process of writing a novel. They had more ideas about the problems Karen and Melanie would have to face and how to solve them. Mrs. Paul took their scenes, descriptions, dialogue, ideas, and added to them, and shaped them, and sometimes "wrangled" them together.
This novel about three girls was written especially for girls to read. Six girls and Kathleen Paul wrote this novel. Here's a little bit about them:
Celeste Stoddard,14. Celeste will be in ninth grade and this is the third year she will be home-schooled. She wants to be a teacher and an author when she grows up. These are some of her favorite things: food - big, juicy strawberries color - forest green sport - soccer book - Jewels for a Crown movie - The Music Man hobby - I love singing, playing piano and violin, sewing, and of course, writing. subject in school - literature favorite part of writing club - I like seeing other people's perspective and comparing them to mine.
Rebecca Nelson,14. Rebecca will be in ninth grade. She has always been home-schooled. She wants to be a writer when she grows up. These are some of her favorite things: food - chocolate color - yellow sport - baseball book - Anne of Green Gables movie - It's a Wonderful Live hobby - reading. subject in school - literature favorite part of writing club - listening to other people's ideas
Amy Stoddard,12. Amy will be in seventh grade and this is the third year she will be home-schooled. She wants to be a nurse and a missionary when she grows up. These are some of her favorite things: food - my dad's pizza color - blue sport - volleyball book - Cherry Ames, Flight Nurse movie - The Music Man hobby - biking, ballet, and cooking subject in school - history favorite part of writing club - knowing what I write will be put in (the chapters) and actually finishing the book
Sarah Lewis,12. Sarah is from Australia and after this year, she will return home. She wants to be a vet or a park ranger when she grows up. These are some of her favorite things: food - Cadbury chocolate color - purple sport - volleyball book - Redwall movie - Star Wars hobby - collecting Redwall books and Beanie Babies subject in school - drama favorite part of writing club - choosing the WHERE LOVE IS NEEDED for the book
Amelia Glasier,12. Amelia wants to be an elementary school teacher when she grows up. These are some of her favorite things: food - orange sherbet, ice cream color - purple sport - baseball book - Who Can I Trust movie - The Santa Clause hobby - ice skating subject in school - reading favorite part of writing club - reading the chapters
Maria Wortley,12. Maria wants to be an author when she grows up. Mrs. Paul retired from teaching this year and is spending more time writing. She has a married daughter and a son. Both are in college. She has two dogs, Gus and Gertie. Both love company, especially the writing club girls. She also has an 84-year-old mother living with them. With the girls dropping by for club, it is an exciting household. About the Author
